Acne

Skin cells lining the pores stick together and plug the hair follicles causing acne. Overactive oil glands cause proliferation of a bacteria found in the skin, leading to inflammation within the blocked pore. Acne can psychologically and physically debilitating, and can occur on face, back, neck, and chest. Triggers for acne include hereditary predisposition, stress, hormones, and even certain medications. It starts in preadolescence, and often does not end until middle age. Untreated acne can lead to scarring and dark marks called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Dr. McClerklin is an expert at acne treatment, and will customize and combine topical and/or oral medications with chemical peels, lightening compounds, or microdermabrasion as appropriate to clear your skin.
