Botulinum Toxin -botox/xeomin
Botox is a safe, simple procedure done during routine office visits to soften lines caused by overused muscles of facial expression. Ultrafine injections of this purified protein derivative are placed in the facial muscles just under the skin, such as the lines between the brows, crows feet, and forehead, giving a more relaxed, youthful, natural appearance. Results are usually visible in ten days, and last between three and four months. Continuous touch ups are necessary. Botox is often used in combination with facial fillers to give customized facial treatments. Botox is also used for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) with remarkable, long lasting results in affected areas such as the armpits, hands, and feet. Xeomin in a newer form of botulinum toxin developed by a different manufacturer.
Fillers are injections which replace the volume in our skin which is naturally lost over time, smoothing wrinkles and facial folds, and allowing a more youthful, natural appearance. Fillers plump up areas such as cheeks, deep laugh lines, marionette lines, lips, and earlobes. Specific fillers are chosen and customized for certain facial and body areas according to their unique properties and advantages. Restylane, Juvederm, and Belotero contain hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component in our connective tissue, which strongly attracts water. Radiesse is a volumnizing filler made up of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres. Fillers have minimal downtime, and last from six months to a year. Touch ups are necessary.
